This t-shirt design is an abstraction of the flag of Ghana with an emphasis on the star; the black star represents the lodestar of African freedom. Coined out of that meaning, "Black stars, the hope of Africa" is a common phrase used within the Ghanaian society when referring to Ghana's national football (or soccer if you prefer) team. In effect, the design is a nod to both the history of the flag and the phrase's natural role it plays in everyday Ghanaian conversation.
